A Few Days in Gympie

A great few days was spent up in Gympie by Richard and Andy.

They had a cleaning job at St Patrick's Catholic Parish Gympie. All the Great pipework had to be removed and cleaned, along with cleaning the rackboards and soundboard. They also took out the Swell oboe for cleaning too, and cleaned the console, wiped down the casework and cleaned the back or the organ and surrounding area.

Never a dull moment, as when tuning, they had a slightly dumb note only to find a former wasp decided to make a home in one of the pipes! 😫

They also visited Surface Hill Uniting, which is currently being transformed into a Restaurant and Bar (they plan to open shortly). They have plans to use the organ regularly, so the organ was inspected for what work needs to be done, as well as giving it a clean up while on site. The organist won't have far to go for a beer! 😛. Interestingly, you can read some history about this organ on the OHTA website and its relation to the Albert St Church in Brisbane.
